In the container after-market maintenance parts sector, standardized supply, customized services, and global fulfillment capabilities are key to gaining long-term trust from container owner clients. With keen insights into industry pain points and solid service capabilities, CIMC Equilink started with a collaboration on customized container repair tool kits, then successfully expanded to the customized Reefer Vent Seal project—achieving the outstanding result of delivery to 85 countries and laying a solid foundation for further in-depth cooperation.
I. Project Background and Client NeedsCurrently, the container maintenance after-market faces issues of non-standard quality in repair materials. As a leading container manufacturer, CIMC has a responsibility to promote the standardization of after-market parts supply. Meanwhile, container owner clients value both product quality and cost control, and are in urgent need of finding standardized, transparent, and reliable after-market parts suppliers.
Previously, CIMC Equilink had completed a customized container repair tool kit project for this client. Due to the scattered demand for repair tools across the client’s global yards and the unreliability of local procurement channels, the client launched a centralized procurement initiative, requiring customized logos on the tools and air freight delivery to global yards. Equilink won the client’s initial trust through the accurate delivery of 650 tool kits (valued at USD 29,000).Based on the recognition from this previous collaboration, the client launched a second customized project in late May 2024: the development of exclusive customized Reefer Vent Seals. The first order was valued at approximately RMB 600,000, with delivery required to the client’s yards in 85 countries. When the client placed a repeat order in April 2025, they further requested air freight delivery to 19 countries and asked Equilink to prepare inventory for future shipments to global yards on demand.
II. Project Initiation and Planning ProcessBefore initiating the project, the Equilink team first reviewed the experience from the previous repair tool kit collaboration, and clarified the client’s core demands for "customization and global delivery"—not only ensuring the quality stability of the vent seals, but also meeting the scattered delivery needs across "multiple countries and yards," while aligning with the client’s cost control goals for global centralized procurement.
First, the team conducted in-depth communication with the client on details such as the vent seals’ material, size, and logo printing specifications to ensure the product matched the usage scenarios of the client’s global yards.
Second, in response to the delivery scope covering "yards in 85 countries," the team planned the logistics solution in advance: selecting partners with global air freight qualifications, sorting out customs clearance requirements and document standards for each country, and formulating a batch-by-batch shipping plan to avoid delivery delays caused by regional differences.
Meanwhile, considering the client’s future repeat orders and inventory needs, the team reserved production capacity and confirmed long-term supply cycles with raw material suppliers to prepare for rapid responses later.
When the client placed a repeat order in April 2025, the team quickly initiated production using the pre-reserved production capacity and logistics resources, and shipped the vent seals to 19 countries by air as required. Meanwhile, in response to the client’s "inventory preparation" request, the team developed an inventory management plan, defining inventory early warning mechanisms and replenishment cycles to ensure the client could retrieve goods at any time.
IV. Delivery and Acceptance DetailsThe first batch of customized Reefer Vent Seals was accurately delivered to the client’s yards in 85 countries by air. All vent seals were undamaged with clear printing, fully meeting the client’s usage standards, and the client successfully completed the acceptance process. The subsequent repeat order in April was also delivered to designated locations in 19 countries as scheduled, with both delivery timeliness and product quality recognized by the client. Regarding the "inventory preparation" requirement, the two parties have reached an agreement on details such as inventory location, stock quantity, and replenishment trigger conditions, laying the groundwork for regular supply in the future.
V. Project Outcomes and Client FeedbackFollowing the repair tool kits and Reefer Vent Seals, the client has formed a stable habit of placing repeat orders and proactively proposed the "inventory preparation" requirement. Moreover, based on recognition of Equilink’s service capabilities, the client’s headquarters hopes to explore an overseas cooperative inventory model and intends to jointly develop an online ordering platform to optimize the repair logistics costs and ordering convenience for its global yards.
Upgrade of Equilink’s Own CapabilitiesThrough in-depth cooperation with this client, Equilink has accumulated valuable experience in cross-border customized product supply, global logistics fulfillment, and overseas inventory management. This provides important support for accelerating the development of its own cross-border e-commerce platform and overseas operation service network, further consolidating its competitive advantage in the container after-market parts sector.
